Chile imports 14% more beef

21/10/2010

Chile imported 14% more beef in September compared with September 2009 figures, with imports totalling 96,657 tonnes.

The country imported 29% more beef from Paraguay (61,235 tonnes), 169% more from Brazil (10,944 tonnes), 146% more from Uruguay (8,322 tonnes) and 68% more from Australia (2,858 tonnes).
However, beef imports from Argentina fell 54% to 13,139 tonnes because of limited supplies and high cattle prices.
