Brazilian leather and shoe exports continue to grow
Brazilian leather and footwear exports continued their passage of growth in September, according to the country’s foreign trade ministry.
Its figures show that leather exports increased by 20.7% and footwear exports grew 21% during the month compared with figures for September 2009.
Footwear exports totalled $109 million compared with $90 million during the same period last year. For the year to September, shoe exports totalled $1.14 billion compared with $1.01 billion during the first nine months of 2009.
Leather exports reached $126.7 million in September compared with $106 million in September 2009. Leather exports for the first nine months of the year totalled $1.3 billion compared with $1.01 billion during the prior-year period.
