The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has expressed support for Ethiopia's plan to increase foreign investment for its leather and textile industry.

The US organisation says it will provide financial support for the country’s five-year growth and development plan for the leather and textiles sector. Under the plan, Ethiopia hopes to increase the industry’s exports from around $20 million to approximately $1 billion within a five-year period.
