Danish princess favours real leather at World Equestrian Games
Denmark’s Princess Nathalie is taking part in the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, US, from September 25 to October 10 just ten weeks after giving birth to her son.
The princess is also promoting a new line of clothing for dressage and show jumping at the event. The main attraction of the range is a pair of high-tech breeches, designed in collaboration with American designer Elizabeth Israel. The breeches are made from a special type of leather, which has been bonded with Lycra during the tanning process to give a stretchier feel. “The leather does give a better grip on a saddle than artificial leather,” the princess told the Louisville Courier.
The trousers are available in Europe and will soon be on sale in the US. Each piece features her name and a tiara logo.
Princess Nathalie won bronze at the 2008 Olympic Games in her first appearance as a competing member of the Danish dressage team. In 2009, she won the Aachen CDI grand prix in Germany.
