Three-day format works for Le Cuir

Exhibitors said they were satisfied with the quality of contacts made and with the volume of business they had done.
In total 329 exhibitors from 26 different countries took part, presenting leathers in the colours and textures they believe fashion brands will use in their autumn-winter 2011-12 collections.
This edition of the show filled 5,000 square-metres of stand space, a 7% increase on the autumn edition last year and a return to 2008 figures.
Béatrice Rousseau, general manager of the show, said that exhibitor numbers had fallen in 2009 because of the economic downturn. The show has recovered from this, she said, and some exhibitors increased the size of their stands this time.
One of Italian tanners that took part, Conceria Nuti Ivo, said a move to run the show over three days rather than four had worked. Market director, Mario Donati, commented: "Three days are just enough. It’s true that the work was much more concentrated on the first two days and sometimes our customers had to wait for their turn, but we suceeded in offering them a quality service."
For her part, Arzu Sani from Turkish tanner Odabasi Deri said she had observed a difference in visitors’ profile over the three days. She said: "We came accross a lot of designers looking out for the season's trends on the first day. Real business was carried out on the second day but we had customers coming back to see us once again on the last day. We had some buyers coming back with their own clients to show the materials they had chosen for the next collection."
The show will next take place from February 9-10 2011.
