Indian Leather exports up

The value of Indian leather exports increased during the first four months of the current financial year (April-July) reaching $937 million compared to $831.1 million in the corresponding period last year. This represents growth of 12.7%. 

A breakdown shows that exports of finished leather were up by 26.9% to $220.75 million from $173.96 million. Leather footwear exports were up by 15.1% to $326.5 million from $283.6 million. Exports of leather garments were almost exactly flat at $95.5 million, while leathergoods exports rose by 13.9% to $215.1 million from $188.8 million.
