China: leather shoes up in volume and value

Chinese footwear manufacturers produced almost 2.2 billion pairs of leather shoes from January to July. The value of the shows increased by 22.6% year on year to reach around $27.8 billion.
The average unit export price for Chinese-produced leather shoes increased by 7.1% to $9.84 dollars per pair. The average price of imported leather shoes is still much higher at $36.52 dollars per pair.
Total footwear exports during the first seven months experienced growth of 26.6% in volume to 5.9 billion pairs, and 23.3% in value to $18.3 billion dollars. Imports dropped 4.5% in volume to 17.45 million pairs, but increased in value by 16.5% to $430 million dollars.
