Louis Vuitton wants sales to slow down

Luxury brand Louis Vuitton is preparing to alter the opening hours of some of its most prominent Paris stores to make sure stocks of popular leathergoods do not run out in the build-up to the busy Christmas period.

According to Reuters, Louis Vuitton's flagship store on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, as well as its outlets on Avenue Montaigne and on Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, all highly popular with tourists from important markets such as Japan, China and Russia, will close at 6.00 pm all of this autumn instead of the usual time of 7.00 pm.

Reuters quoted a sales assistant who said the move was aimed at allowing Louis Vuitton to build up stock in time for Christmas.

Louis Vuitton, which runs 11 ateliers or workshops in France, is building a new facility in the Drome region of southern France to boost production. It will be operational in the second half of next year and will employ 200 people.
