August 2010 sales up 7% for Tandy

Specialist leather retail and wholesale group Tandy Leather Factory has reported sales for the month of August of $4.4 million, up 7% from $4.1 million in August 2009. Year to date sales are up 8% to $37.9 million in the current year compared to $35 million last year.

The company's retail sales rose 10% to $2.3 million, while the wholesale division posted sales of $2 million for August, up 6% from August 2009. Its international division (one store in Europe) had sales of $115,000, a 1% increase on last year.

Chief executive, Jon Thompson, commented: "August was a good month for us as all three divisions reported sales gains for the month. I am especially pleased with the wholesale stores as they came back strong in August from a somewhat weak July."
