Positive outlook for Turkish leather sector
According to industry experts, Turkey is currently experiencing its hottest summer for 130 years. However, they suggest the short-term outlook for the country’s leather sector is relatively positive, particularly from October onwards.
Shoe and leathergoods exports are gradually rising and are expected to exceed 2009 levels. Demand for sole leather continues to be high, although sole leather tanners are having to deal with higher vegetable tannin prices.
The country continues to import of high-quality pickled and chrome-tanned skins, so experts expect garment nappa leather exports to increase. Suede tanners are also expected to perform well.
