Manufacturing growth in the Philippines includes leather sector

The manufacturing sector in the Philippines registered double-digit growth in both volume and value in June, according to the national statistics office.

The Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries showed that the value of production grew 16.3%, while volume increased by 23.4% led by furniture and fixtures, the volume of which grew 97%. The value of net sales rose 16.9%.

The average capacity utilisation for the manufacturing sector was 83.1%, with 11 major sectors showing a utilisation rate of 80% or more. Among these were leathergoods, chemical products, and rubber and plastic products.
