New Zealand exports more beef in July
New Zealand’s beef exports grew 2% year-on-year in July to 28,566 tonnes, supported by strong demand from Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea. However, growth was hampered by a 12% decline in exports to its largest market, the US, at 10,107 tonnes.
Strong demand from Indonesia continued in July as Ramadan approached, boosting exports by 46% compared with the prior-year period to 5,213 tonnes. Exports to Japan increased by 40% to 3269 tonnes, while exports to South Korea rose 24% to 3440 tonnes.
The country’s total beef exports of beef for the year to July also rose 2%, to 260,797 tonnes.
