Hermès opens special leather-only floor
France-based luxury brand Hermès is opening a floor dedicated to leathergoods at its flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York in September.
The 2,000-square-foot space was designed by Parisian architect RDAI, founded by the wife of former Hermès CEO Jean-Louis Rena Dumas. The store will feature a VIP leather-panelled studio, which will be used to take custom orders and will also contain a leather workshop station that will enable qualified craftsmen to refurbish and restore leathergoods on-site.
It will carry “the breadth of leather products that founded the House nearly two centuries ago,” according to the company.
