Indian leather exports up 12.7%

Indian leather exports rose 12.7% between April and June. Exports totalled $757.3 million compared with $671.9 million during the prior-year period.
The breakdown showed that finished leather exports rose 25.4% to $174.4 million compared with $139.2 million, while leather footwear exports grew 15.4% to $278.5 million from $241.4 million. Leather garment exports increased by 0.4% to $81.5 million from $81.2 million, while leathergoods exports grew 15.2% to $161.89 million from $140.5 million and non-leather footwear exports were up 4.2% to $4.5 million from $4.3 million.
However, footwear component exports fell 10.2% to $50.7 million compared with $56.5 million during the prior-year period, while saddlery and harness exports dropped 33.4% to $5.9 million from $8.9 million.
