Growth for Chinese leathergoods and apparel exports

The total output value for China’s leathergoods sector increased by 21.8% during the first half of 2010 to 46.7 billion yuan ($6.9 billion).

According to the China Leather Industry Association, leathergoods exports grew 25% to $7.4 billion, meanwhile rose 60.1% to $400 billion during the first half.

Industrial output value for the leather garment industry totalled 19.3 billion yuan during the first six months, up 29.3% year-on-year. In volume terms, production grew 22.5% to 25 million pieces.

Leather garment exports rose 25.4% in value to $330 million, while imports grew 57.9% in value to $14.5 million.
