Mr Giannetti da Fonseca added that Russia’s current wheat shortage will increase its reliance on meat imports as the amount of food for domestically produced livestock will be limited.
According to the Brazilian agriculture ministry, the country’s meat exports to Russia during the first of the year totalled 319,000 tonnes, or $ 915.2 million. This represents a rise of 19% compared with the prior-year period. Beef exports to Russia rose 10% to 142,600 tonnes, or $476 million between January and July.
