03/08/2010

Laser die cutting systems specialist Spartanics has introduced its Finecut-Plus-Rotary technology which combines laser die cutting and rotary die cutting. According to the US-based firm, it will suit the needs of leathergoods manufacturers who are looking for the speed and capabilities of rotary die cutters without the die costs. It will also enable users to transition between long and short run jobs with limitless cut configurations.

Its capabilities include: rotary die cutting at speeds as fast as 121 metres per minute; tool-free laser die cutting with single source lasers at speeds as fast as 100 feet per minute; rotary sheeting, cutting variable lengths at up to twice the speed as traditional guillotine sheeters; add-on modules for UV coatings, lamination and slitting; and automated optimisation of cutting paths for fast web speeds without the need for operator intervention or setup.
