Turkish tanners are looking for skins
29/07/2010
The major clients are from countries with colder climates, especially Russia. However, Turkish manufacturers have said that warmer winters, an abundance of leather coats among consumers already and fluctuations in price have all contributed to the fall in demand.
However, reports have also suggested that Turkish tanners are optimistic for the 2010–2011 winter season and are currently looking for good prices for merino lamb and sheepskins from suppliers in Spain, the UK and Australia. Prices over EUR 10 per skin are unlikely to encourage them to stock up in high volumes, local sources have said.
