JBS to close plant in Argentina

27/07/2010
Brazilian packer JBS has announced that it will close a plant it runs in San José, in Entre Ríos, Argentina, owing to the restrictions on beef exports imposed by the government there.

The Argentinean government has taken steps several times already this year to control exports so that domestic supply remains high and the price Argentinean consumers pay for beef stays as low as possible. The San José plant will cease operations from the start of August until further notice.
