USMEF president-elect says exports are the route to profits

27/07/2010
The president-elect of the US Meat Export Federation, Keith Miller, said in the build-up to the Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver (July 28–30) that demand in overseas markets would be on many people’s minds.

He said beef exports from the US have been strong so far in 2010, but that market access in some parts of the world remains an issue. He explained: “The international markets are improving and if we could just gain some more access into a couple of countries, we’d see a lot more [business]. We need to concentrate on getting free trade agreements.”

Mr Miller added that he senses there is more optimism about the global economy now, although the situation in the US itself is still difficult.
