Five tanneries to close in Fujian

26/07/2010
The Economic and Trade Commission in the Chinese province of Fujian has announced that it will close down five tanneries in Fuzhou, the provincial capital, before the end of this year.

All five tanneries are reported to have small processing capacities, less than 20,000 bovine hides a year.

The China Leather Industry Association named the five tanneries as Fuzhou Chaoqi, Changle Shengda Leather Products, Liuchangping, Minguan Leather Company, and Minhou Xiangqian. It said production at the five sites is likely to cease by the end of September, with the sites scheduled to be dismantled at the end of the year.
