Turkey wants its own US warehouses for leather

23/07/2010
Turkey’s minister for external trade has said on a visit to the US that his government should set up its own distribution centres within reach of major US container ports such as Long Beach in California to improve the flow of key exports, including leather and leathergoods, into the country from Turkey.

The minister, Zafer Çaglayan, visited the port during his visit and said leather, along with textiles and chemicals, was one of the industries that would benefit from this improved supply chain strategy.

He told Turkish media afterwards: “This is how China and South Korea work.”
