The Italian National Footwear Industry Association (ANCI) has held the annual assembly of young footwear industry entrepreneurs in Mira, in the Veneto region of Italy. The event took place on July 16.

ANCI wanted the younger generation of entrepreneurs to meet and compare notes on the future of Italian shoe production and on new business models.

Chairman of the ANCI Young Entrepreneurs Group, Enrico Paniccià,  said a new generation of entrepreneurs had a crucial role to play in sparking economic recovery in Italy.

Federico Rampini, the author of a book entitled Slow Economy, A Wise Rebirth, addressed the conference and said the changes under way in eastern and western markets and the green revolution will encourage countries to take steps to increase quality of life and welfare. Other speakers included Geox founder Enrico Moretti Polegato, who shared his experience of being an entrepreneur in the footwear industry.

ANCI chairman, Vito Artioli, commented: “The ANCI Young Entrepreneurs Group is of strategic importance for the entire footwear system. We have young entrepreneurs with clear ideas and outstanding skill developed thanks to the great wealth in company expertise that lies behind them, but also to the will and ability to reinvent and optimise this asset, in the light of the major challenges being faced today.”
