19/07/2010
The Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul  has reported increased activity in its abattoirs in the first half of 2010 in comparison to the previous year.

In the first six months of this year, abattoirs across the state slaughtered almost 1.7 million head of cattle, compared to just over 1.5 million for the same period in 2009.

Last year, the packer industry in Mato Grosso do Sul was in trouble, with strikes, closures and job losses in many facilities.
