Louis Vuitton opens Beirut store
19/07/2010
Vuitton’s first store in Lebanon opened its doors to shoppers on July 17. The outlet is on the city’s Rue Allenby, a few blocks from the seafront.
The company described the architecture of the new Beirut store as “sobre and chic”, with wood colours and cream dominating the interior as in all Louis Vuitton shops. Accessories such as the Neverfull, Speedy and Keepall bags are stand-outs in the women’s section. In terms of footwear, elegant, heeled shoes from the Vuitton collections are the ones that the company has chosen for its Lebanese clients. “The height of the heels is something we have chosen for Lebanese women; women here do not wear sports shoes,” commented company president, Yves Carcelle.
For the first three weeks in the life of the store, passers-by can stop and admire the work of Lebanese painter Marwan Rechmaoui, on display in the store windows.
