Hermès bags go under the hammer

London-based auctioneer Christie’s put together a collection of vintage Hermès leathergoods to sell at its South Kensington auction house on July 14.

The lots included around 65 Hermès handbags and wallets in a variety of leathers (including ostrich, lizard and crocodile) and colours. The items date from the 1960s to the present day.

Christie’s explained that many of the Hermès bags are vintage but have never been used. They ranged in price from £6,000 to £35,000.
