Vietnam: first half exports increase in value

Vietnam achieved export revenue across all sectors of $32.1 billion for the first half of 2010. The share of the leather and footwear sectors in this was $2.7 billion, up by almost 11% from the same period last year. The figures come from the government’s General Statistics Office.

The breakdown showed that Vietnam exported leather footwear worth $2.3 billion during the January-June period and $455 million worth of handbags, wallets and luggage.

In June alone, Vietnam exported footwear worth $480 million against $400 million in the corresponding month last year.
