China: Leather clothing exports slow down in May

China’s exports of leather apparel are still growing, but the rate of growth slowed in May compared to the previous month.

The figures for May showed a 2.4% increase in volume and a 10.3% rise in value for leather clothing compared to May 2009, but this represents a decline of 20.9 percentage points in volume and 5.5 percentage points in value compared to April 2010.

Exports of leather apparel for the first five months grew by 24.8% in volume and by 27.1% in value compared to corresponding period of last year.
