Hide prices recover in Uruguay

Hides are now bringing in more than $1 per kilo for packers, making them once again an important contributor to the overall value of slaughtered cattle.
Still the most important by-product of the meat industry, hides from Uruguay were able to attract little interest in the leather market last year, but demand and prices have recovered in 2010.
