Government to save famous Fès tannery
06/07/2010
Secretary of state for artisan industries, Anis Birou, has announced that the government will help the tannery’s owners find an initial $1.5 million to renovate the site, which has become run-down; the government is keen to preserve jobs in traditional industries and believes it can also boost tourism by improving the Chouara facility.
Two other traditional Fès tanneries, Aïn Azliten and Sidi Moussa, will be moved to the Aïn Nokbi district as a means of revitalising their activity too.
