Double-digit growth for Pakistani manufacturing sector
Textiles continue to be Pakistan’s top export earner, representing 53% of the country’s total exports between July 2009 and May 2010. According to Pakistan’s statistics bureau, textile exports totalled $17.6 billion during this period.
However, the manufacturing segment also held an important share with a 19% share. Exports for this sector, which include leather and leathergoods, totalled $3.4 billion during this period compared with $3.3 billion during the prior-year period.
Finished leather exports totalled $293.7 million while leathergoods exports reached $404.7 million.
