South Korea imports less Australian beef

A number of Australian beef exporters say they are experiencing less demand from South Korean buyers. The decline has been attributed to currency fluctuations and lower beef consumption levels.

Experts believe the South African World Cup has prompted more people to eat out and snacking. However, rather than consuming beef, the majority of consumers are opting for other types of meat, particularly chicken, when they eat out as well as eating fried chicken as snacks. Chicken prices have risen because of the increased demand.
