23/06/2010

A delegation from the Indian leather sector will head to Turkey in July to discuss ways of increasing finished leather and leathergoods exports.

Led by the Council for Leather Exports (CLE), the visit will take place July 5-7 and will be split between Izmir and Istanbul. Participants will include leather, footwear, leathergoods and leather apparel manufacturers.

According to the CLE, Indian leather and leathergoods exports to Turkey have increased from $7.5 million in 2003 to $28.6 million in 2008-09 at an average annual growth rate of 30.7%. The CLE believes there is plenty of scope for further cooperation between the two nations.
