Germany becomes Romania’s top import and export market
Bilateral trade between Romania and Germany is believed to be strengthening. Around 19% of Romania’s first-quarter exports were shipped to Germany, while 17% of its total imports were sourced from the country. However, trade with Italy and China is also picking up, according to Vergil Voineagu, chairman of Romania’s national statistics institute.
The country’s top imports from Italy, which accounts for 11% of total imports, include finished leather and shoe components. The top import items from China include footwear and electrical items.
