Brazilian government supports leather machinery exporters
The Brazilian government has said it will work closely with the country’s export promotion agency, Apex-Brasil, and the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Leather and Footwear Machinery and Equipment (Abrameq) to support small local companies. The aim is to increase exports, raise the profile of Brazilian shoe and leather machinery companies on the world stage and generate jobs.
The new partnership will be discussed further at the upcoming edition of Francal (July 5-8, São Paulo). Initially, the markets the project will target on behalf of the 38 companies involved will be Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Ecuador and India. Not only will meetings be set up with representatives from these countries at Francal, the government will help Apex-Brasil and Abrameq organise Brazilian delegations to other Latin American shoe and leather fairs. Around 80% of the firms that have joined the scheme are based in Novo Hamburgo, 10% are based in Serra, while the remainder come from Santa Catarina and São Paulo.
