Awards presented at Northampton graduate fashion show

Several awards were presented to students at The University of Northampton’s Graduate Fashion Show held at Royal & Derngate, Northampton, on June 16.

BA fashion student Garry Butterfield, who based his menswear collection on his love of the London Underground and the intricate detailing of maps, which he has translated into abstract patterns on cowhide, made a real impact on the catwalk.

Mr Butterfield made it through to the Gala Awards Show at London Graduate Fashion Week where he was up for the top award in the country along with nine other students from across the country.

He won the Stylejob.co.uk Fashion and Leather Collection Award on the night.

The Schwarzkopf Hensmans Award for Creative Commitment was given to Laurell Wilding, while the Sazerac Award for Innovative and Creative Use of Colour in a Third-Year Collection was awarded to Rebecca Griffin. Oliver Brodmann won the Handelsbanken Award for Innovation, while Holly Russell got the Falcon International Award for Creative Use of Pattern in Fashion Fabric.

Alex Newton, also nominated for the Zandra Rhodes Textiles Award at London Graduate Fashion Week, was given the Highgate House Award for Textiles and Sharee David received the Shoe Bar Technical Excellence in Footwear Construction Award. Dorcas Phillips was given the Leather Scholarship, while Joanne Pateman and Dawn Fuller won Leslie Church Awards. Ms Pateman and Ms Fuller also received Cordwainers Scholarships alongside Surjit Singh, Felly Bachelor and Lucy Gould.
