Italy celebrates improved April exports
According to the Italian National Statistics Institute (ISTAT), the country’s exports rose 15.2% in April. This export growth rate was the highest recorded since April 2008. For the January-April 2010 period, exports rose 8.8% compared with the same period in 2009.
By sector, the biggest increases were for coke and refined oil products (+77.9%), chemical substances and products (+33.8%), transportation (+24.8%) and leathergoods excluding clothing.
Italian imports rose 18.3% in April and 12.5% during the first four months of the year.
