Nantong imports more cow hides
According to the Nantong Bureau of Inspection and Quarantine in China, cow hide imports for the first five months of the year rose 21.4% in volume compared with the prior-year period. In value terms, cow hide imports were up 129%.
The number of imported pieces totalled 196,686 in the January to May period, with a value of $13.4 million.
The bureau claims price per piece has risen to $70 from $35 during the first half of last year. Nantong is a vital river port in Jiangsu province bordering Yancheng to the north, Taizhou to the west, Suzhou to the south across the river, and the East China Sea to the east.
