Louis Vuitton leather case to protect World Cup trophy

A leather case designed by luxury leathergoods brand Louis Vuitton will protect the FIFA World Cup trophy as it makes its way to Johannesburg.

The Vuitton-print case was unveiled on June 1 by supermodel Naomi Campbell. Ms Campbell wore gloves to insert a replica version of the trophy into the case as traditionally only the winning team is allowed to touch the Cup.

"I think what this cup symbolises to all children all over the world is hopes and dreams of their passion that can come true and the blood, sweat and tears is going to go into this," Ms Campbell said.
The brown case reportedly took more than 100 hours to hand craft at the brand’s workshop in Asnieres, France. It is now believed to be on its way to South Africa, with the tournament kicking off on June 11.
