Beast to Beauty attracts 19 young designers
The third 'Leather - From Beast to Beauty' conference took place in London on June 3.
As in other years, a large group of design students from different fashion colleges around the UK, 19 young designers in total, attended the event thanks to the financial assistance of the Leathersellers' Company in London. They displayed their work in a room next to the conference hall to give delegates the chance to see their creations and talk to the students during breaks. The exhibits included shoes, bags, briefcases and clothes.
The keynote speaker was Terra Plana footwear designer Galahad Clark. A number of other industry experts from all stages of the supply chain also took to the stand throughout the course of the day. The main focus was on producing leather in a more sustainable way.
The annual conference is organised by World Leather and independent training consultancy Leather Wise. This year’s event took place at Saddlers Hall in Gutter Lane, close to St Paul's Cathedral. It was followed by a networking dinner at the Leathersellers Hall.
At the end of the conference, Simon Yarwood, publisher of World Leather, thanked everyone for taking part and said he hoped delegates would return next year for the fourth Beast to Beauty event.
