New official leathergoods label

28/05/2010
Leather industry associations in Turkey have said they will put new labelling on leathergoods produced by members after complaints from tourists that products made from synthetic material are being passed off as leather.

Observers in Turkey have said that most local people rely on the difference in price when deciding if a product is made from genuine leather or not, but the Leathergoods Industry Association and the Turkish Leather Foundation have recognised that the image of the whole industry will suffer if tourists continue to be tricked in this way.

Under the new initiative, all products made by their member companies will carry a new official label for leathergoods.
