Clariant unveils new colour and leather trends forecasts

The company has put together a full trends booklet called Fashion Up; it includes real leather samples, to help tanners put their collections for the season together.
Inspirations include modernity and futurism on the one hand and tradition, magic and mysticism on the other.
This latest edition of Fashion Up highlights four main themes. In Country House, the classic British heritage of old houses and equestrianism provide the inspiration, with "antiqued" and suede leathers mixing with sturdy tweed and suit fabrics.
The second theme is Mountain Trail, which has tough leathers and rough suede, inspired by outdoor pursuits such as hiking, climbing and hill-walking. And next is Masquerade, where the emphasis is on a return to luxury and opulence. Here the leathers are glossy and metallic to complement fabrics such as velvet, lace and satin.
Finally, there is Urban Hub, a theme inspired by life in the metropolis. Here, Clariant has included "tough leathers with an urban attitude" that it believes will work well with high-tech fabrics.
On the question of colour, the company has developed its Global Color Card in close co-operation with German trends group MODEUROP. The focus is on cool, dark, partially metallic shades that stand alongside earthy, natural colours. Warm and feminine variations complete the palette.
All the colours on the card have been achieved with Clariant's Melioderm dyestuff range, while the finishing recipes are based on the company's Neosan 2000 and PPE pigment range.
