Shandong forms new body for cleaner leather

The initiative was headed by the Shandong Leather Industry Association and the union members consists of Yantai University, Shandong Light Industry College, provincial leather institutes, a national tanning technological promotion centre as well as fifteen leading tanneries in Shandong province.
The union has set itself the target of carrying out research on cleaner production, energy saving and reduction of emissions. The authorities in Shandong believe the idea will make the leather industry there much more competitive.
