Dutch packer firm in administration

25/05/2010
The largest packer firm in the Netherlands, Weyl Beef, has gone into administration, according to media reports there.

Administrators have been appointed to Enschede-based Weyl and will seek to find a buyer for the company, which runs two sites. The Enschede site employs 450 people and a second site at Gronau in Germany employs 200.

Weyl had a slaughter capacity of around 1,000 head of cattle per day. The administrators have said companies interested in buying the operation have already come forward and that they are hopeful of securing a sale in a matter of weeks.
