Bangladesh can grow leathergoods exports at 15% a year

In a press release afterwards, the organisation revealed that, with just over one month of the current financial year remaining, it is working towards a fixed a target of exports worth $246.3 million for the twelve-month period (July–June), an increase of around $43m on the previous financial year when the country’s leathergoods and footwear manufacturers achieved exports with a value of $203.8 million.
The association explained that, for the first time, leathergoods and footwear had exceeded finished leather in terms of export earnings, with important new markets such as Japan now buying goods from Bangladesh. LFMEAB said it believed 15% annual growth was an achievable aim.
