Positive results for Tunisia

The leather and footwear industry in Tunisia registered a positive performance for the first quarter of 2010, with exports increasing by 12.8% compared to the same period last year.

The footwear sector on its own registered a decrease of 4.8%. Footwear, shoe uppers and handbags together represent 88% of Tunisia's leather industry output.

These three categories earned the North Africa country mor than $130 million in export revenues in the first three months of the year. The corresponding figure for leather was $5.9 million.
