Marfrig complains of poor Q1 results
20/05/2010
In the first quarter of 2010, Marfrig plants in Argentina exported 8,900 tonnes of beef, 36.8% less than in the same period the year before.
The company said slaughter at its abattoirs in Argentina was down by 17.8% over the period, compared to the first quarter of 2009. Apart from the government measures, the slaughter rate has been affected by heavy rains in the early part of 2010, which have made it easier for livestock farmers to hold on to cattle in the hope of rising prices.
