Le Marche grows business in China

The Italian region of Le Marche is celebrating export growth to China, with leather, footwear and leathergoods registering the third-highest earnings, after electrical goods and machinery.

The leather sector in Le Marche shipped shoes and other goods worth EUR 12 million in 2009, 15% of the region’s total. The authorities in the province of Macerata, home to a large number of high-end footwear manufacturers, said their exports to China grew by 6% last year compared to 2008.
