Hermès plays down Q1 success

Luxury brand Hermès has posted impressive results for the first quarter of 2010.

Across the board, sales were up by 18.5%, reaching EUR 507.7 million. Revenues in Asia, excluding Japan, were up by 47%, while sales grew by 25% in the US and by 15% in Europe. Sales in Japan were down by 2%.

Chief executive, Patrick Thomas, told Reuters he expected the company’s growth rate to slow down during the year and that the company was sticking to its full-year forecast of 5% sales growth and a slight increase in margin.
