Valencia preparing already for 2011 IULTCS Congress
23/04/2010
The Spanish Leather Chemical Association (AQEIC) has already begun its preparations for the thirty-first IULTCS Congress, which it will host in Valencia from September 27-30 2011 on behalf of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS).
The host organisation believes the event will bring together more than 200 participants from five continents, most of them researchers and practitioners from academia and the business sector.
The agenda for the XXXI IULTCS Congress will focus on:
- Basic research for the leather industry
- Clean innovative technologies for the tanning industry
- The use of advanced techniques in the analysis of leather
- New developments in chemicals for the leather industry
- Wastes and environment
- Technology and information centres in the leather industry
- Future technologies in the leather industry
- Research and development of new machinery for the leather industry
This will be the fourth IULTCS Congress that AQEIC has organised since its foundation in 1950. It was the host organisation in 1953, in 1975 and, most recently, in 1991. Having held all three previous conferences in Barcelona, AQEIC felt it was only fair to celebrate the XXXI IULTCS Congress in the city of Valencia, capital of the area with the second-highest concentration of tanneries.
Valencia is Spain's third city with a population of 1.5 million in its metropolitan area and the city possesses the infrastructure to accommodate all types of events, as well as having enough history, art and culture to be attractive to all visitors.
AQEIC has said it will issue regular updates on the progress it is making in preparing for the congress.
